Around The Block
“Around the Block”: the holiday shopping spree for local children!
Next event: November, 2011
Since 2007, Kids Matter has supported a clothing program that started in a local church by its Pastor. KMI learned the program had to turn away 50 children due to lack of funding. KMI answered the need financially and brought back each of those children so they could be blessed with new clothes too. Experiencing how important it was to clothe these children, KMI continued to support this program financially, by donating over $100,000.00 as well as many of our volunteers to put on this event.
This led to KMI kicking off our own program “Around the Block” which each Christmas season, clothes hundreds (769 in 2010!) of local, deserving children. Thanks to Kohl’s Southlake and Buckner International for sponsoring the children, along with our volunteers and donors who turned the idea for this program into a reality.

WHY CLOTHING?
By providing new clothing for these children, they gain confidence in knowing they are deserving of the very best and that people outside their own families care about their well-being. We rejoice in the success stories we see and hear at the event, as well as what we know of each child long after.
GET INVOLVED
We need your time, talent, and treasure to make this event a success.
Time and talent: Volunteers are needed to shop with the children and their families, as well as to work the event and serve on the planning committee.
Treasure: Sponsor a child’s winter wardrobe for just $100. Unlike most fundraising events, 100% of the proceeds raised, go directly to the child for their purchases at Kohl’s. Kohl’s offers deep discounts on their clothing for that evening so your $100 buys much more than it otherwise could.
If you would like to be involved, please contact, Mike Kiselak at kiselak63@verizon.net.
