Kids Matter International is making a difference in our own backyard too. The Clothe-a-Child program celebrated its 20th year of its grass roots efforts in 2008, and with a new KMI partnership we had our best year ever, even in one of history's worst economies. We raised enough funds to clothe over 1100 children in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area of North Texas.

History of Clothe A Child:

A local Pastor, Lawrence Kennedy, started this grassroots program 20 years ago as he was trying to give children a chance to walk in confidence, whether in school or out in public. He felt the clothes are only the wrapping of each Childs heart and if wrapped in new clothes the heart warms and the self esteem is lifted. Help the children and the end result is you touch the inner core of our community.

In 2007 Kids Matter International found out that their was an immediate need from Clothe a Child for support. KMI quickly answered the call and in 2008, KMI and Pastor Lawrence Kennedy met and agreed to merge the Clothe A Child Program with Kids Matter International where together they could take the program to places it has never been before. Not realizing their first year together would face one of the worlds worst economic times in history, neither flinched as together they helped clothe more than 1100 children. The most ever by Pastor Kennedy's Clothe A Child Program. In 2009,hit again by a struggling economy, more than ever the need for such a program was so evident. Connecting through several other groups that were birthed from Pastor Kennedy's concept we were able to find out truly how many lives this program actually got to affect. Our reported tally for 2009 almost hit 4000 children!!! That's right 4000!!! Thank you all for your help and donations.

NOW TOGETHER, our mission is to address the clothing needs of disadvantaged and underprivileged children. It is accomplished through our partnership with Kohl’s Department Stores and local school districts that help identify those children who are in need of assistance. Funds are provided through individuals, businesses, and other local organizations. School officials have informed us that this program is the only known available program meeting the clothing needs of the children. The schools also report that the program positively affects the self esteem of the children as well as providing for their clothing needs.

Finally, 100% of the funds raised for this program from donors go directly to the children. Where else can you get that! Well, with Clothe A Child you do!!! 21 years of doing it that way shows it works!! Now Help us help more as we strive to stretch this program across the country.
